Major
Michael Lewis Mundell was killed in action on January 5, 2007 and laid
to rest on January 14, 2007. Our condolences to his family, his
children, and his fellow soldiers. Major Mundell was instrumental
in our quest to better understand in an apolitical way
what war is and what the job of a soldier is. He has been quoted
frequently in our emails and columns. Emilie Boyles had access to
interview Major Mundell over past four months and has accumulated 240
hours of transcripts from those conversations.
Just
two days before his death, he
requested that she share some of his thoughts about media, about the
draft, and about the nature of a soldier and the necessity of war.
Watch
here and the blog for how
those thoughts will be released.
Major
Mundell entrusted us with the
legacy of his words and we are committed to not fail him.
