Sine and cosine, pi, geometry theorems, theories of gravity...as our kids are headed back to school, it is doubtful that they are looking forward to math or physics...but after talking with a PHD in mathematics from Wibaux, Montana suddenly all his Professor Snape like lingo explained why little guys can do well on the football field and it's harder to hit homeruns off slow pitched than fast pitched balls. Mathematically and athletically challenged myself, after reading Dr. Leroy Amunrud's book this weekend Unitivity Theory, subtitled A Theory of Everything, I became convinced that this is the book for every athlete and coach to read...of course, they might want to take a physics and higher math course first.

Curious about how Dr. Amunrud went from Wibaux ranch boy to writing a book cumulating his 60 years as a mathematician at the University of Montana, Montana East News interviewed him in his home last week. He explained that he wanted to understand how gravity worked and how it could be used to propel things. He said in the early days, he wasn't the best student but it was the patience of his teachers at the University of Montana that helped him through and strive to go deeper into math to understand gravity. He started at U of M before the math program began in the mid 1940's and grew with the program as they built the department and eventually were able to offer a PHD in Mathematics.

For all the complex language in Dr. Amunrud's book, the thought in the mathematical community is that the work of this home-grown country boy who can still rope a calf can lead into new forms of propellant energy to help reduce our dependency on foreign oil.

Using simply a board with a protractor and balls, Amunrud is simply able to demonstrate practical applications of his theory for football, baseball, and other sports...as well as the energy industry.

Montana East News asked him to explain gravity as simply as he could.
